we have a lot to talk about.

Let's Get Started.

Making good policy is complicated.

Don't elect someone for this job who will pretend its simple.

Here are some of the core values that I will bring to the table.

  • Economic Prosperity

  • Defending Our Rights

  • Power to the People

Economic Prosperity

There's no reason Alabamians can't have quality affordable health care, jobs with good wages and benefits, unemployment benefits between jobs, affordable groceries, and affordable child care.

Defending Our Rights

Government exists to benefit the people, to establish frameworks by which we can all live as freely as possible. Restrictions on freedoms should be allowed only when deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of the community.

Power to the People

Political elites and Corporate elites, on both sides of the aisle, have controlled Alabama for too long. They have ignored the will of the people in favor of what makes them money and keeps them in power. We see that in gerrymandering, in tax policy, in the restrictions on local control, and in the inability of citizens to put forward ballot initiatives.

I'm not hiding

Here's where I stand on some hot buttons:

All of the following issues may come up in on the Senate floor. Let's stick to issues that the Senate would actually have some power to address.

  • Lottery. This isn't my preferred revenue stream for government, but it's crazy to have Alabamians giving their money to other states. Let's get it done.

  • Reproductive Rights. Women deserve to have them.

  • School Choice. When public schools are a mess, we should fix them. Public funds should not go to to private schools. If we're going to offer tax credits or vouchers, they should go to low-income families only.
